Welcome to our Year 4 page.
Here are some of the thngs we have been doing in Year 4 recently
On Remembrance Day P4 led an assembly telling the school all about life for children during WW2.
We told everyone about the Blitz, Dads going off to war, Evacuation and sheltering from the raids, Rationing, Make do and mend and Dig for Victory.
We also told everyone about Remembrance Day and held a silence to remember all those who fought and died in wars.
We had great fun visiting Enniskillen Castle to find out more about our topic WW2.
We enjoyed sitting in the Anderson Shelter, trying on old Army uniforms and listening to Julian showing us artefacts and videos about the war.
Derryvullan Church of Ireland held a special event to remember the 152 servicemen from the North Fermanagh area who died during World War 1.
We were invited along with Year 5 to go and see the display. It was very interesting. We were very impressed with all the hard work and all the interesting stories that Sam, Derick,Joe and David along with Archdeacon Paul told us.
We also really enjoyed the crisps and juice after.
After we were finished we looked at the graves beneath the Cross of Sacrifice in the church yard to investigate the countries, jobs and ages of the servicemen that died during World War 2 and who are buried here and at the back of the church. We saw Canada, New Zealand, American and British servicemen. There were Pilots, Navigators, Engineers and Air Gunners etc. The youngest man to die was only 18.
We are taking part in a planting project. We planted 2 bulbs in each pot- a daffodil 🌼 and a dahlia. We also planted some mystery bulbs. We are going to record the rainfall and watch for the growing shoots. We are sharing our results with The Edina Trust.
We have been learning about Adjectives. We also learned about alliteration. We wrote Autumn poems using Alliteration. We published these on Pic Collage
Before Hallowe'en Half Term we made Rice Krispie Pumpkins with Mrs Johnston. They were yummy!
This term in P4 we have been learning about World War 2. Each week we have Activity Based Learning to help us learn more about our Topic
